Flag Guidelines & Request Form
Western celebrates the diversity, equity, and inclusion of its students by supporting student connections with others of similar backgrounds, perspectives, values, and interests.  Western also fosters an environment where students strive to be good citizens of the campus community by acknowledging, supporting, and connecting with those who may be different than them.  To celebrate all of our students who come from many different walks of life, student groups are provided a method to request to have flags designed and mounted on Western's campus that recognize and celebrate who they are.
The following are the Flag Guidelines for Western Wyoming Community College:
  • Only the flags of the United States of America, the State of Wyoming, and the official flag of Western Wyoming Community College will be flown on the exterior flagpoles in front of the campus.
  • Country flags that represent the students who have attended Western previously and currently will be the only flags on display in the Atrium and will remain on display in that location, regardless if students from that country are currently attending Western, or not.
  • Flags of student clubs or organizations may be put on display in Mitchell's Dining Hall if they are approved by the Dean of Students and in accordance with these Flags Guidelines.  These types of flags are requested by completing the form below.
  • In considering flag requests, Western will do so in a content-neutral manner and retains the right to prohibit content that violates federal, state, or local law, or any college policy.
  • Proposed flags must be in line with Western's mission and purposes and may not infringe on an individual's basic human rights.
  • Once approved, the flag will be designed and professionally produced in collaboration between the student group and the Dean of Students to assure consistency across flags. The flag will then be purchased through designated student fees and appropriately mounted in Mitchell’s Dining Hall by Western staff.
  • Western shall not be responsible for any damage or theft of flags hung in Mitchell's Dining Hall.
  • As long as the student group remains active, the flag will remain hung in Mitchell’s Dining Hall. In the event the student group becomes inactive, the flag will be removed and properly stored for possible future use if the student group becomes active again.  A student group's active status will be determined by the Dean of Students at the beginning of each semester.
