Per U.S. Government mandate, international students in the MBA IT program are required to attend weekend sessions each quarter for which they are enrolled in courses. If approved in advance, a student may be absent from only one weekend while enrolled in the program. To be approved for an absence, a student must complete the online notification of absence form and attach required documentation before the start of the weekend session. Approved absences will be granted only for illness, injury, last-minute flight cancellation, or other extreme circumstances beyond the student's control.
Roll will be taken during the weekend sessions. Arriving late to a weekend session or leaving early from a weekend is not approved. A student should not ask a professor or an administrator for permission to arrive late or leave early. Students should make travel plans accordingly. For example, if a student is flying back east, an additional overnight stay near the airport will likely be necessary.
Only one excused absence is allowed during the duration of student's program. Absences in excess of what is contained in this policy will result in dismissal from the program. Absences, whether approved, excused, or unexcused, will hinder a student's ability to obtain an H1B visa.
