By submitting this survey, you are requesting that the Department of Elections allows your locality to securely download, install and use RCTab software in your locality for the purposes of tabulating Rank Choice Voting races pursuant to ยง 24.2-673.1.
Receiving access to RCTab software has multiple steps.
This survey is the first step. This survey lets ELECT know you will be using RCV in your locality for an upcoming election and gives us a record of the ordinance that approved its' use in your locality.
Once, ELECT receives this fully completed survey (with attached loclaity ordinance), it will send information for accessing instructions on the correct equipment that needs to be purchased for RCTab software, along with hardening that equipment (hardening is the process of prepping and securing the equipment for use with RCTab software).
The vendor of RCTab has explicit specifications for devices that can be used with RCtab and instructions that must be followed for configuring a device before RCTab can be downloaded and installed on the device. The process of hardening is extremely important and therefore a locality must follow those steps and complete survey RCTab Configuration and Security Hardening stating they have done so, before they are allowed access to the RCTab software. Once the secondary survey is fully completed and submitted. ELECT will allow access to the secured RCTab software by sending instructions on downloading, installing, using, and managing RCTab software and equipment.
At the bottom of this survey is a place where you must upload the ordinance passed in your locality approving the use of Ranked Choice Voting.
